When a small group of people come together and have the same vision, a magical collaboration is born.
A friend introduced me recently to a baker/chef in Toronto, who was looking to promote his work by showcasing his baked goods through photos for his website and social media. If you know me, you'll know that I love anything to do with food, especially beautiful food, So it was a no-brainer in saying yes to working with this amazing baker/chef, Hadrien Verrier from Hadrien Patisserie .
Soon after that, we got together one evening, along with his partner, Wendy, to share our vision, ideas, and ways to execute this project. It became clear, that the more we talked, the more excited we got in making this happen.
Jumping into this enthusiasm, a session was booked on the spot, and the following weekend, I returned to Hadrien's shop at Death in Venice, a cafe and market in the heart of Queen Street West with my camera gear and some simple props.
With Hadrien providing a steady supply of baked goods and delicious-looking accompaniments, our photo session began.
Take a look below at some of the highlights from the shoot, and don't forget to follow Hadrien's work!
Since it was my first time shooting food professionally as the main subject, I was both excited and nervous. I have seen many expert food photographers taking magical photos, and I wanted to create the same feeling in my images as they do in theirs.
As it turns out, when you have a passion and drive for something, you can achieve what you want. I should know this... From having no knowledge and experience in the world of Photography, and then jumping headlong into it just about 2 years ago, I have created a new business venture based primarily from my dreams and will.
This photo session with Hadrien Patisserie has reminded me of the lesson that I keep learning, and that is, when you put your mind to it, you can make your dreams come true!
The photos turned out as we envisioned, and we will definitely be working together again in future, which is truly wonderful. It's not the fact that we are working as businesses, but the more important thing is that we will be working together as Makers and Creatives. That is the best part of being in Photography - using the mind and heart to create something lasting.
Thank you for reading, and until next time!
